President for Life?

This story in the Tuscaloosa News is about Jim Sullivan the long-time president of the Public Service Commission, which regulates utilities in Alabama. Quote from the story: "William Canary, president of the Business Council of Alabama, said Sullivan has been in office so long that he's no longer viewed as partisan." Of course not. The Republicans and Democrats are the same party. Of course, Libertarians and still being excluded, naturally.

Here is a rare thing: an article from neocon David Horowitz's Frontpage Magazine that is actually thoughtful and worth reading. Liberalism: The Slippery Slope to the Left, by Barry Loberfeld. It stops short however, of taking the analysis of the philosophical inconsistancies of modern "liberals" and "conservatives" to the next step and discussing modern libertarianism, the philosophical heir to classical liberalism.
